Neurointensive Care
Critical brain injuries and neurological disorders can be life-threatening and may lead to permanent brain damage if immediate diagnosis, treatment, and care are not provided to the patient. Patients who require ICU care have a diverse range of neurological diseases including brain tumors, brain aneurysms, strokes, hemorrhages in the brain, status epilepticus, head and spinal cord traumatic injury, severe nervous system infections, as well as many other life-threatening neurological conditions.
The Neuro Intensive Care Units at NASA Hospitals are specialized units where round-the-clock and personalized care is provided to patients suffering from such critical neurological conditions. Our ICUs are equipped with advanced monitoring techniques including ICP monitoring, brain oxygen monitoring, and continuous video EEG, in addition to essential therapeutic and diagnostic equipment.

MEDICATION FOR NEUROINTENSIVE CARE
This care is provided by a multidisciplinary team including physicians with specialized training in neurocritical care, critical care nurses with neuroscience training, in collaboration with an extensive team of specialists from various disciplines. Furthermore, we work closely with our colleagues in speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and nutrition to optimize care for our patients.
Constant observation and monitoring by neuro-nurses, along with immediate availability of neuroimaging tools, on-call physicians, and specialized interventions, allow us to promptly correct or reverse critical and worsening neurological conditions in patients.
